traffic keeps gettin worse here- i'd try to stay away from I-35, try 183. ALSO, anybody ridin out 290 west (toward dripping springs) NIGHTMARE- all traffic goes to ONE lane, the lane on the left. People know this but try to drive on shoulders/pass/etc. even when it's backed up PAST the last entrance (be careful!)Weekend daytime is traffic & fri lunchtime, then picks up at 3pm til 6ish-actually, most of austin traffic is round shiftwork hours 7am & 3ish pm. ok. satia

If you're coming South on I-35 toward Austin, I would STRONGLY suggest taking the SH130 toll road just North of Georgetown (and no, I don’t work for TX Tag). Traffic on I-35 South between Round Rock and Austin is just plain STUPID! Especially after about 3 PM. Friday afternoon will be even worse. I can guarantee that if you’re coming through Round Rock and Austin on I-35 in the afternoon, you will be sitting in the heat. The tolls on SH130 have been converted to “Pay by mail”. If you don’t have a toll tag, you can either stop at the both, of just cruise right through and they’ll mail you a bill. It’ll only costs around $4 to get from the North end of SH130 at Georgetown to the 290 exit. Money very well spent. I’m taking the camper down that way from Georgetown Thursday evening. There is a way to get on SH130 coming from the South, but I’m not familiar with that route since I live way North. Here are the directions coming from the North:

Just North of Georgetown, take the SH130 exit South toward Austin.

You’ll go South about 20 or so miles.

Take the 290 West exit.

As soon as you get off the ramp onto 290 West, get in the far left lane.

You’ll want to take the next left, which is Decker Lane.

Take Decker Lane South about 3 miles, and you’re there.

I wondered if that TC stood for Texas City......just checked your profile.  Yep, shore does.   We're in Brazoria.  A few are from Friendswood - even more from Houston.

Unfortunately, since we RV, we're stuck pulling the bike rather than riding.  I sure miss riding in!!

Hey, what's a good short way to come in to the rally grounds from the north?  I-35 to be exact?  We came around the long way last year and were wondering if there was a shorter way to come in and get on the south side of the grounds?

Take SH-130 south (North of Georgetown) to FM 969 ( a little south of Hwy 290), go right (West) to Decker Ln (fm3177) and take another right. Follow Decker Ln to Expo Center and your in line , headed in the correct direction to get in.

I was wandering if there is a group riding out of the Houston area to ROT on Friday?

Heather, as it gets closer to ROT there will be more and more people looking for riders to meet up with.  There are usually 5-6 Houston groups....and several from the outlying areas too (Friendswood, Galveston, Rosenburg, etc.)  Just pick the one that's closest to you...or start one yourself.

The General Discussion are normally has more of the rider meetup type threads.
